For our little superstars!
Have you ever wondered who decides how the schools, nurseries and play spaces in your town get better — and how you can help?
Every single child in Builsa North deserves a happy, healthy and safe start in life! The Builsa North Municipal Assembly in the Upper East Region made its very own district plan so every boy and girl — no matter where they live or what special abilities they have — can grow up strong, eat good food, play safely and go to school on time.
First, two big words
Grown-ups use some tricky words for this. Here is what they actually mean.
Imagine your neighbourhood as a huge team — the District Assembly is like the coaches and leaders of that team!
They are the local government people whose job is to take care of the town: fix roads, build schools, keep streets clean, and make sure everyone stays safe and happy.
A district plan is like a giant map made by local leaders to make a town or city a much better place to live!
Instead of adults just guessing what to do, the plan lists the biggest problems — dirty streets, schools that need help, places that need safer parks — then writes a step-by-step checklist for fixing them.
Why did they make the plan?
The plan aims to build a community where every child — every boy and every girl — gets the same chance to…
Every little superstar gets to sparkle.
From nursery right through to school.
In safe, fun places to explore.
By caring families and the whole community.
Who is the plan for?
Everybody counts — wherever they live, and whatever special abilities they have.
Babies and toddlers who need a safe, fun place to learn and play.
Kids who use wheelchairs or leg braces, or who need a little extra help to join in.
Boys and girls getting ready for their very first day in class.
The mums, dads and caregivers who love and look after every child.
The big idea
You are the little superstars the whole plan is for — from tiny toddlers to brand-new pupils!
Mums, dads and caregivers pick up great tips on showing love and support, and cook yummy, healthy meals.
Chiefs, community leaders, local heroes and teachers all help — at durbars, on the radio and in every zone.
Understanding the plan
To give every child a great start, Builsa North's leaders are focusing on six priority areas — and every one of them points back at the same thing.
Happy & Helpful Families. Chiefs, community leaders and local heroes share great tips on showing children love and support.
Better parenting
Love and great tips make every home a happy home!
Wise community leaders, chiefs and local heroes share great tips on how mums, dads and caregivers can show love and support to their children.
Sharing helpful stories at community durbars, churches, mosques, radio shows and local gatherings — so every family hears them!
Creche in public schools
A safe, fun first classroom for our very youngest — ages 0 to 3!
A safe, fun space right inside public schools, where our youngest children (ages 0–3) can learn and play!
Training local teachers on the very best ways to care for and teach little toddlers.
Safe environment
Fun, safe places to explore — and a check-up so every child gets the help they need!
A fun, safe centre in every zone, where children can play, explore and learn.
Checking children every year, starting early, so anyone who needs extra help or disability support gets it right away!
Teaching & learning tools
Every child can roll, walk or run right into class!
Fixing up 10 kindergarten classrooms with ramps and smooth paths, so children using wheelchairs or leg braces can join in easily.
Filling classrooms with exciting learning toys and books that every child can use.
Better nutrition
Fresh food grown with sunshine — even when it doesn't rain!
10 solar-powered gardens across our communities, so families can grow fresh, healthy fruit and vegetables all year long — even when it doesn't rain!
Showing families how to cook yummy, healthy meals — and sharing fresh food with school lunch programmes.
Timely enrolment
When the school year starts, every child is in class!
Checking in with communities to make sure no child gets left behind when it's time to start school.
Fun radio messages and community visits right before the school year starts, so parents get their little ones registered on time!
Why six super powers and not one
Imagine building Builsa North out of giant toy blocks. Every colour is one of the six super powers — take a colour away and the whole town wobbles.
Fresh food is great — but not if a child misses the first day of school. Ramps help — but not if little ones have nowhere safe to play. When all six super powers work together, every child in Builsa North gets the chance to shine.
Builsa North is your home too. Every little superstar matters — including you.
Your turn
Invite every kid to play with you
Eat your fresh fruit and vegetables
Remind grown-ups: sign up for school on time!
Working together
These are the teams helping Builsa North turn the plan into happy families, safe spaces and full classrooms.
