Engaging Policy Makers in Intersectoral
Policymaking for Children
Have you ever wondered how doctors, teachers, leaders, and communities can work together like a super-team to make life awesome for young children?
That is exactly what the EPIC Project is all about! EPIC stands for Engaging Policy Makers in Intersectoral Policymaking for Children. That is a big name! But the idea is simple: EPIC brings people together to work as a team to make life better for children.
Why do we need a super-team?
No single person can provide all of them. That is why EPIC brings people together.
Doctors and nurses nearby when you need them.
Places to learn, play and be curious every day.
Good nutrition so bodies and brains can grow.
Safe houses, streets and communities to live in.
Grown-ups who care for you and keep you safe.
Room to share your ideas and your opinions.
The problem
Usually doctors only fix health problems, teachers only handle school, and leaders only fix roads, etc. When they don't talk to each other, problems don't get solved fast enough.
Everyone works in their own box.
Big problems wait.
They share ideas.
Problems get solved faster.
Who is on the team?
Many groups, all pointing at the same thing — a happy, healthy child.
Children — yes, YOU! You are the real expert on being a kid, so your ideas start the whole plan.
How the team works
Five simple steps the EPIC team follows to help communities.
Leaders and experts get together, make a plan, and get ready to work as one team.
Listening to parents, communities and children to find out what help kids need most.
Designing new ideas alongside kids, through fun activities like the Child Parliament, so children can share their big ideas.
Showing the new plans to investors so they can provide the money and tools needed to build them.
Checking how well the plan helped children — then sharing the good news with the world.
What we want to achieve
Every child gets a healthy start in life — from the very first years.
Local communities get the support they need to build great communities for children.
Adults listen to children's ideas when they make important rules.
Why you matter
Grown-ups don't always know what it feels like to be a child today. When you speak up, you help adults see what needs to change.
Through fun events like “Build Me a Future” and the Child Parliament, your voice helps build better schools, safer playgrounds, and happier communities.
The EPIC project believes that children know best about what makes a great childhood.
The big idea
Imagine building a super-giant block castle. You can't do it alone — every block is a different person on the team.
One doctor or one teacher can't solve big problems alone. But when kids, parents, teachers, doctors and leaders team up and share ideas, we can build a much happier, healthier world for children.
Your voice matters. Let's team up and make our world EPIC.
